Githaka Estate: Cultivation, Craft & Character

Discover the rich heritage and sustainable practices that define Githaka Coffee Estate and its premium Arabica coffee.

About Githaka Estate

Welcome to Githaka Estate, where the slopes of Murang’a meet generations of Kenyan coffee wisdom. Here, on fertile highlands nourished by red volcanic soil and the cool breeze of the Chania River, coffee is not just grown — it is crafted. For us, coffee begins long before the first cherry ripens. It begins with family, heritage, and a deep respect for the land.

A Family Legacy

Githaka Estate is a family-owned farm established in the late 1970s by Allan and Elizabeth Ngugi, who cultivated coffee alongside dairy, horticulture, and mushroom farming. Today, a second generation runs the estate with the same spirit of stewardship and innovation.

At 1,550 metres above sea level, our farm borders the Chania River, whose steep banks form a natural preservation area planted with indigenous trees — a sanctuary for birds, butterflies, and wildlife.
